Overview
Carlo is a Junior Partner in the Litigation, Labor, and Immigration Practice Group. He has significant experience in civil, criminal, and tax litigation, and has represented clients in various courts and administrative agencies. He has extensive experience in labor proceedings before the National Labor Relations Commission (NLRC) and the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE). His experience also extends to advising corporate clients in various labor concerns affecting their operations, such as assistance in negotiation and execution of collective bargaining agreements, and in the transition and transfer of employees to another corporate entity.
Representative Work
- Represented corporate clients in tax cases before the Court of Tax Appeals resulting in an order of injunction, which prevented the BIR’s enforcement of its collection efforts.
- Represented corporate clients in the successful conclusion of various civil and criminal cases before first and second level courts, collegiate courts, and quasi-judicial agencies.
- Represented and led corporate clients in the successful negotiation and execution of collective bargaining agreements involving major labor unions.
- Facilitated the settlement of construction disputes resulting in multi-million-peso savings for a corporate client.
- Represented a client in a criminal case for violation of Republic Act No. 3019 which subsequently resulted in a judgment of acquittal before the Supreme Court.
- Represented a client in various criminal cases before the Sandiganbayan which resulted in a judgment of acquittal.
- Advised and assisted a client in the successful conclusion of judicial settlement of estate proceedings involving significant real and personal properties.
- Advised and assisted clients in the implementation of retrenchment and redundancy programs involving several employees, including liaising with the Department of Labor and Employment, and other government agencies.
- Advised and assisted a corporate client in the transition and transfer of several employees to a multi-national company.
- Advised and assisted multi-national companies on significant labor and immigration concerns prior to setting-up of business in the Philippines.
