In this April issue of our Legal Updates, we feature a significant decision by the Supreme Court that confirmed the one (1)-year prescriptive period for cyber libel cases, similar to libel cases. We also highlight notable issuances and developments from various government agencies, including the Securities and Exchange Commission, Bureau of Internal Revenue, and Department of Energy.
Among the featured issuances are the SEC’s circular implementing the Rules on Umbrella Funds, the BIR’s circulars extending the deadline to file the 2025 Annual Income Tax Returns and payment corresponding taxes, the requirement of posting a BIR Registration Seal Badge on online websites, e-commerce or merchant pages, and other merchant digital platforms, and clarifications on the timeline for the filing and payment of estate tax under the Estate Tax Amnesty, and finally, the DOE’s circular adopting the Amended Framework for the Integration of Waste-to-Energy Facilities in the Country’s Power Generation Mix.
