We are pleased to share the latest issue of our Legal Updates for 2026, which is now available and may be accessed through the link in our bio.
In this issue, we discuss recent issuances from various government agencies, including the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), Philippine Competition Commission (PCC), and the Office of the President.
Among the key issuances are Executive Order No. 117, series of 2026, which streamlines the accreditation system for donee institutions by designating the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) as the sole accrediting entity for social welfare and development agencies; PCC Memorandum Circular No. 26-002 which adjusted the fines for violations of the Philippine Competition Act and related rules; BSP Memorandum No. M-2026-018 on the implementation of the International Transactions Reporting System (ITRS); and BIR issuances prescribing simplified procedures for the closure and cancellation of business registrations and launching the pilot implementation of the Taxpayer Portal for large taxpayers.
