Overview 

Lowela’s practice focuses on labor, civil, criminal, and tax litigation. Her practice focus includes assisting client in various labor law concerns, family law matters, property relations, and appearance before various courts and quasi-judicial agencies. She represents clients across a range of industries including banking, finance, construction, media, energy, and real estate, among others. She has represented clients before municipal and regional trial courts, Court of Tax Appeals, Office of the Ombudsman, Commission on Audit, National Labor Relations Commission and other quasi-judicial agencies. 

Representative Work

  • Handled labor related concerns of one of the largest Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) company in the world including successful representations before the National Labor Relations Commission 
  • Successfully secured a reversal before the Department of Justice of a finding of alleged syndicated illegal recruitment against employees of multi-national company 
  • Successfully caused the suspension of collection of alleged deficiency taxes against one of the leading manufacturers of human wigs and one of the leading conglomerates in the Philippines amounting to more than PhP19,000,000.00 and PhP312,000,000.00, respectively 
  • Represented one of the largest conglomerates in the Philippines in various tax assessment cases in the aggregate amount of more than PhP1Billion before the Court of Tax Appeals 
  • Represented a high ranking former DILG official to assail various Notices of Disallowance issued by the Commission on Audit in an aggregate amount of almost PhP2Billion 
  • Represented the pioneer Qualified Third Party provider in the energy sector to assail the unlawful seizure and takeover by a highly-urbanized local government unit 
  • Provided legal assistance and strategic counsel in the negotiation of a Collective Bargaining Agreement between a labor union and one of the leading manufacturers in the Philippines 
  • Represented a company engaged in the oil industry for the renewal of its application involving public land before the Department of Environment and Natural Resources. 
  • Successfully secured favorable awards in relation to actions for sum of money involving millions of pesos. 
  • Successfully prosecuted and secured a conviction for various cases including, violation of B.P. 22 and Qualified Theft 
  • Defended clients in various criminal suits including adultery and violation of Republic Act No. 9262. 
  • Successfully defended companies across various industries against numerous claims of illegal dismissal. 
  • Successfully entered into a Compromise Agreement involving a multi-million claim filed by a company engaged in the medical aesthetic industry. 
  • Represented clients in assailing non-compete clauses.
