Overview
Bert is a Partner with the Firm’s Litigation and Labor Practice Groups. He co-heads the Litigation Practice Group. He is also an accredited Mediator of the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines’ Bureau of Legal Affairs – Alternative Dispute Resolution Services.
Bert’s practice focuses on litigation and dispute resolution with extensive experience handling civil and criminal cases before trial courts, including the Sandiganbayan and the Court of Tax Appeals, and administrative cases before quasi-judicial agencies, such as prosecutors’ offices, the National Labor Relations Commission, the Energy Regulatory Board, and the National Water Resources Board. He also has a background in handling family-law related concerns. Bert regularly attends employment-related investigations, advises clients on labor standards concerns and in organizational development, and has participated in collective bargaining agreement negotiations and certification elections.
Representative Work
- Advised the transnational acquisition projects in connection with the business process outsourcing services of client
- Defended and caused the acquittal a high ranking former PNP officer against multiple counts of alleged falsification of public documents filed with the Sandiganbayan
- Successfully entered into a Compromise Agreement between a mining company and the Philippine Mining Development Corporation for dispute spanning eleven (11) years with various legal issues reaching the Supreme Court and Court of Appeals for a mining property worth US$82 million
