Overview
Joey is the co-Managing Partner of the Firm. He heads the Litigation Practice Group and is a member of the Executive Committee. He has extensive experience in civil, commercial, criminal, tax, and administrative litigation and dispute resolution; family law; intra-corporate disputes, corporate rehabilitation and insolvency, construction arbitration, labor and employment. He represents clients across a range of industries including manufacturing, property management, construction, media and telecommunication, production, medical, and outsourcing. He has appeared in various trial courts and appellate courts as well as quasi-judicial and administrative agencies. He likewise sits as a member of the Board of Directors and acts as Corporate Secretary of various corporations.
Representative Work
- Successfully defended a media company as well as its affiliate manufacturing company at the Court of Tax Appeals and Supreme Court against alleged tax liabilities
- Successfully defended a major manufacturing company against claim of purported labor-only contracting and unfair labor practice at the Labor Arbiter, National Labor Relations Commission, Court of Appeals, and Supreme Court
- Defended and caused the acquittal a high-ranking former police officer against multiple counts of alleged falsification of public documents filed with the Sandiganbayan
- Secured a P106.5 million arbitration award in favor of a construction company against the DPWH which has been affirmed by both the Court of Appeals and Supreme Court
- Successfully obtained a writ of habeas corpus from the Court of Appeals for a custody case
